HARVESTING SEASON

Harvesting crops in any reign is different and all depends on several factors. Weather events and equipment breakdowns rarely follow an organized schedule. However, if other practices within the farming operation are prioritized, perhaps a producer can better address the emergencies that will occur.

The harvesting dates indicate the periods in which the crops are planted and harvested in most years. But they do not account for exceptionally early or late dates of scattered planting and harvesting, nor abnormal seasons caused by climatic or economic conditions.

Anyway, the harvest period in the USA, European countries, Canada, Russia and Ukraine is taking place during August-September each year. While USA, Canada and Europe are also known for their winter wheat with the harvest period taking place from May to July.     

SHIPPING

Every day millions of dry bulk commodities are traded and loaded into bulk carriers. There are three major dry bulk cargoes are the iron ore, coal and grains. Specifically, the grain is the third major cargo in terms of corn and seaborne trade.

The largest grains products exporter is United States, France, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada and Australia and the largest importers of grain products are China, Japan, Egypt, Europe, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.  

During the harvest period, demand for shipping services is increased which considerably boosts the freight market. This is more apparent in the harvest of South America and this is because Argentina and Brazil feed with grain cargoes the Asian countries and this trade increases the ton-mile demand since the vessels need more than 3 months to perform a round voyage.

In order to buy a commodity usually, there is a standard rule, which is sending an official letter of intent (LOI) for getting an offer that shows a professional business manner. Please note that a reasonable target price in the LOI will be very helpful to save time.
